Homelessness prevention is being actively embraced by a growing number of policy makers at the city, state and federal levels. AI has experience with both planning for comprehensive strategies at the local level, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of community-based programs for the prevention and amelioration of homelessness at the national level.
In order to address challenges including a lack of community awareness, lack of local coordination to locate services, duplication of services, lack of affordable housing, and lack of local wrap-around services, the City of Santa Clarita contracted with AI to provide a local Homelessness Plan. AI conducted thirty (30) key informant interviews and coordinated a two-day strategic planning event.
AI’s network analysis showed the patterns of communication between the organizations in the city working on issues related to homelessness. Our network analysis revealed the clustering of organizations, which had the highest levels of “betweenness” and identified the differences between the actual and ideal networks as described by local service providers.
